Your participation is helping us build technology that will make nightlife safer for everyone.
Guardian Angel is building a mobile app designed to keep people safe on nights out. Whether someone has had their drink spiked or has simply had too much to drink, our app tracks movement patterns and alerts trusted contacts when it detects something may be wrong.
Drink and needle spiking is a serious and underreported problem. We want to do something about it.
The core premise: Guardian Angel needs to be able to process detections in a short time window. We're building technology models that can identify concerning movement patterns within just 5 minutes of data — fast enough to get help to someone who needs it.
We're currently at the stage in our development where we're collecting anonymised movement data from volunteers — particularly people who are out and have been drinking. This data is collected in 5-minute windows and allows us to validate the accuracy of the technology models we've been building.
We collect short bursts of movement data to validate our detection models work in real-world conditions.
All data is completely anonymous. We don't store any personally identifiable information with the movement data.
Your data helps us confirm our models can reliably distinguish normal movement from signs of distress.
By participating in our study, you're helping us improve the app so it can better recognise when someone might be in trouble. The anonymised data you provide helps us refine our detection algorithms and ultimately make nightlife safer for everyone.
